The Eskirmological Method
The Eskirmological Method is a scientific process by which genuine understanding about the phenomenon of fighting may be reached. Previously, any discoveries about fighting were based upon either empiricism or induction, and the process by which any form of knowledge was arrived at was hitherto obscure. The establishment of a legitimate method is a significant step forward since any knowledge based upon that method may be replicated by anyone in the world. Once the Method has established a general consensus amongst fight-experts, anyone in the world may replicate the same process to test the result- in accordance with the efficacy of the scientific method.
Prior to the existence of an Eskirmological Method, experts of fighting would explain a certain set of theories or principles upon which a Combative System was based. Students were required to accept those principles, and there was no real way for other masters to validate or verify those principles. If a Karate master was to teach that fighting was based upon a certain principle, there would be no way to know for sure how that conclusion came about, or upon what specific set of deductions allowed him to arrive at that conclusion. If we were able to view this process, we might find flaws in his deductions and therefore have reason to disprove his conclusion. Socrates once stated that, in the process of generating conclusions, if any stage of the deductive process can be proven to be false, then the conclusion upon which that deduction is based is also false.
The Eskirmological Method has one single purpose; to seek the absolute truth possible about fighting. It is not interested in supporting long-held dogmatic understandings which might obstuct the primary purpose of the Method.
